Alistair Guy is a fashion photographer based in London. He works for Vogue.com. Last week I have been at the backstage during one of his photoshoots and I took pictures of him working.
Tell us a little bit about yourself…
Did you go to school to study photography?
Yes I went to Art School for four years and have a degree in photography
How long have you been a photographer and how long have you been a fashion photographer?
I have been a professional photographer for ten years and in the fashion industry full-time for two years
Which photographers influenced you more?
I love classic photography by Arnold Newman, Jeanloup Sieff, Don McCullin, Irving Penn, Helmut Newton and Cartier Bresson
How did you start to work for Style.com?
They asked me to work for them a year and half ago doing reportage of the Glastonbury 08 music festival
Which is the best fashion week you ever work?
The last London Fashion Week SS10 was incredible; working for the British Fashion Council, Style.com, Fantastic Magazine and British Vogue
Do you have a few recent images you can share with us?

What type of cameras do you shoot with?
I use a Nikon D3
What is your favourite photography accessory, other than your camera?
A large, round silver reflector is always in my bag
If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor lens
In which projects are you involved next?
I’m photographing my next London exhibition on men in fashion which will be opening during March 2010
Have you ever had anything go wrong during a photoshoot, how did you handle it?
Not really, I use the great retouchers Mullis Morgan (see http://www.mullis-morgan.com/) who handle all of post production which they excel in
Are you able to provide a definition of living cool?
Doing what I’m doing is pretty much ‘living cool’ as I meet great people most days, travel the world and be my own boss!
