Hedi Slimane, the creative director of YSL since February, has imposed strict controls over the release of his first ‘transitional’ (as termed by YSL to WWD) collections for the brand.
The first two collections, women’s resort and a spring menswear range, will be released in the coming months – but only to buyers. Press must wait until the ready to wear show in Paris in October.
This of course brings Tom Ford and his collections to mind, who does invite some press to his shows – but no photography. In some ways the management of the brand can be understood, but it doesn’t mean that we’re any less disappointed – or any less impatient for October.
