Yesterday Tony Scott jumped to death from Vincent Thomas bridge in Los Angeles. His body was found a couple of hours later. The post-mortem analysis will be tomorrow but the director’s death is investigated as a suicide. A note was found in his car and another in his office. From the latest news seems like Tony Scott had Inoperable brain cancer.

Anthony Scott was born in Stockton-on-Tees a market town in north east England. 7 years younger than his famous brother Ridley he started his carreer as an acthor. During the 70s started to work as director of television commercial. Is then seduced by the Hollywood set and the success comes in 1986 with Top Gun. The film cashes $ 176 million and Scott is world famous director. In 1993 he directed True Romance, the only film of the trilogy pulp with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, written and not directed by Quentin Tarantino. Among his most recent successes Man on Fire, Deja Vu, Domino, and Unstoppable.

Tony Scott leaves a great void in the world of cinema which tightens around the family of the director. Numerous reactions on Twitter to the news of the tragedy.

Ieri sera Tony Scott si è lanciato dal ponte Vincent Thomas, nel porto di Los Angeles. Il suo corpo è stato trovato esanime un paio d’ore dopo. Il Los Angeles Police Department ha in programma per domani l’autopsia di rito anche se nessuno ha dei dubbi sulla causa della morte. Si tratta di un suicidio. A confermare la tesi, il ritrovamento di un biglietto in cui annunciava il gesto. Dalle ultime notizie trapelate sembra che il regista soffrisse di un tumore incurabile al cervello.

Anthony Scott nasce a Stockton-on-Tees un cittadina dell’Inghilterra nord-occidentale. Più giovane di 7 anni del più celebre fratello Ridley inizia la sua carriera come attore per poi passare alla regia di spot pubblicitari. Viene successivamente sedotto dai set di Hollywood e nel 1986 arriva il successo con Top Gun. Il film incassa 176 milioni di dollari e per Scott è successo planetario. Iniziano cosi a fioccare proposte per nuovi film. Nel 1993 dirige True Romance, unico film della trilogia pulp insieme a Le iene e Pulp Fiction scritto e non diretto da Quentin Tarantino. Tra i suoi più recenti successi Man on fire, Deja Vu, Domino e Unstoppable del 2010.
